Professional Learning Programme

Parent Sessions

Parents matter! Their attitudes and actions around and with mathematics have a direct impact on the success of their children.

Would you like some support to challenge and expand their thinking and get them on the same mathematical page as you?

Check out PMA’s parent session programme below – you could direct them to a session held centrally (EDC and online) or you could host a parent session at your site!

YOUR child is now learning Mathematics and Numeracy as they are described in the

Australian Curriculum, Early Years Learning Framework and the Indicators of Numeracy.

Would YOU like to know more about it and what it means for your child?

Would you like to help your child get a headstart with mathematics and numeracy?

Then arrange to have a parent session at your site and find out more!

These sessions are designed to help you:

  • gain an awareness of what the new Australian Curriculum, Early Years Learning Framework and Indicators of Numeracy looks like, how it works and what it means for your child

  • gain an awareness of how Reporting has changed and what this means for you and your child

  • what Mathematics and Numeracy are

  • gain an understanding of what the Mathematics curriculum contains and the breadth of what your child is required to be learning

  • engage you in some mathematics learning designed to stimulate your own thinking about how you can help your child make a positive start to their learning journey with mathematics

These sessions can focus on mathematics and numeracy within the curriculum or on a more general aspect of the

learning and teaching programme
