How will you ensure that your learners are playing in all five "drawers" of mathematics as often as possible every term?

Regularity of experience matters!

professional educators learn with their colleagues!

Let us help you be and become the best Mathematics Educator

you can be in 2024!

AITSL Standard 7.4 demands that we collaborate as professionals

and that is what Professional associations are all about, so come and learn, challenge and belong to your community of PMA MathsSA Colleagues

What are your key learning questions as a mathematics educator and/or leader?

Now that we are in the second half of our learning year, what areas of investigation do you want to connect with other educators about?

Is it the Art, Craft or Knowledge of learning and teaching that you are wanting to explore?

If you are in a Department site – are you wanting to take a “deep dive” into the “Four Areas of Impact” and what it means for your practices in action? Are you looking to explore the "SA Curriculum for Public Education" - remember DON'T START TEACHING IT YET! It is a prototype, not for implementation. Join one of our FREE MEMBER learning conversations around the Strategy and the Curriculum to learn more...

If you are in a Catholic site – are you wanting to think about the implications of the CESA Numeracy Strategy for you and your learning and teaching? Are you playing with Ochre and the Department's materials from pLink? How are you using them to build your capacity as a mathematics educator?

As a Preschool educator or leader – are you wanting to think about EYLF V2.0 and the impact for numeracy learning and teaching?

As a R-6 educator or leader– are you wanting to think about your system’s version of the AC: V9.0 and what it means for your learning and teaching?

Email us at primarymathsPD@bigpond.com and let us know how we can help you associate and learn with your colleagues in Term 4 and beyond.

Learning resources to support you...

Preschool Educators...

Are your mid year learners settled in now? How are you dealing with the challenges of extending your January learners, whilst still connecting with your July learners? Remember to check out our curated resources as one of your support tools.

These resources provide some great ideas for staff teams about how to:

  • Clarify your hopes and aspirations for the next part of your mathematical learning year

  • As a staff team, explore, clarify and describe which intentional teaching strategies through play you are going to utilise to provoke your children as mathematicians

  • Plan your learning through the year so that you can ensure you meet your responsibility to provide a learning environment which provokes all learners to explore all the Indicators of Numeracy and the Learning Processes (all five drawers of Mathematics) in a differentiated way for both your January learners and your new July learners

We hope you can use them to drive some powerful mathematical thinking at your place

R-6 Educators…

Now you are heading off on your final term of learning for 2024, it is a great time to reflect on whether you have been making the best use of the  R-6 PMA Members Resources.

They provide some great ideas for staff teams about how to:

  • Build powerful mathematical learners.  Check out the resource titled “Connecting with your learners as mathematicians”. It is never to late to engage in some of these ideas.

There is an R/1 version and a Yr 2-6 version

  • Designing and reviewing your year overview.

Now that half your learning year is behind you, it's a great time to reflect and make some powerful learning decisions about how you will spend the last nine weeks of learning in 2024! Check out our "one pager" descriptions for each year level - can you use them with and for your learners to help them connect with where they are up to with their learning
